Fractional CTO and virtual CIO

At your size a full-time technology executive is not a sensible hire, but the decisions that need one do not go away. Which system to buy. Whether the quote you have been given is reasonable. What to do about the software your whole business runs on that the vendor is sunsetting.

What you get

  • Technology spend that is planned rather than reactive
  • Decisions made on evidence instead of the loudest vendor
  • A roadmap your leadership team has actually seen and agreed
  • One person accountable for the whole technology picture

Technology decisions are getting made by whoever has the strongest opinion in the room, or deferred until they become urgent and expensive. There is no budget, no roadmap, and no one accountable for the whole picture.

What's included

How we run it

A technology roadmap tied to your business plan

What needs to change in the next twelve months, in what order, and what it costs. Written in the language of your business, not a vendor's.

An IT budget you can put in front of a bank

Recurring costs, refresh cycles, project spend and the contingency. Predictable enough to plan around and defensible enough to present.

Vendor selection and contract review

We read the quote, ask the questions you did not know to ask, and tell you when you are being sold something you do not need. We take no commission from any vendor, which is the only thing that makes that advice worth anything.

Quarterly business reviews

What happened, what it cost, what broke, what changed in your risk position, and what we are recommending next quarter. With a document you keep.

Someone in the room for the hard conversations

Due diligence for an acquisition, a client's security questionnaire, an insurance renewal, a system migration you cannot afford to get wrong.

Outcomes

What changes for you

  • Technology spend that is planned rather than reactive
  • Decisions made on evidence instead of the loudest vendor
  • A roadmap your leadership team has actually seen and agreed
  • One person accountable for the whole technology picture
FAQ

Questions people ask

Can we buy this without the managed services?
Yes. Some clients want the leadership and advisory work while keeping their existing IT arrangement. It is a straightforward monthly or per-day engagement.
How much time is it?
Typically one to three days a month for a business of 10 to 50 people, weighted toward whatever is happening — more during a migration or a funding round, less in a quiet quarter.
Do you take commission from the vendors you recommend?
No. If we buy hardware or licences on your behalf you see what we paid. Advice that is quietly funded by the vendor being recommended is not advice.
